Indeo 3 is also widely used because like Cinepak, it comes pre-installed on most Macs and PCs. The newest Indeo release, version 5.0, boasts a much higher image quality than its predecessor, as well as most other codecs, even at low data rates. Since it is a recent release, most machines do not have Indeo 5 installed, but the codec is available for download at Intel's Indeo web site.
