Thermal Transfer Ribbons

Thermal transfer ribbons are a crucial component of any on demand labeling solution. The ribbon must react appropriately with the label face stock in order to produce the proper image. We offer a complete range of ribbons from general purpose wax ribbons for every day applications to high end resins used in the printing of durable labels. In addition, we use ribbons that are anti-static and anti-stick, with high lubrication, low energy requirements, and high ink sensitivity. These properties all increase print quality, print durability, and extend the life of the equipment (and print heads) on which they are used.

Wax Formula

Ahearn & Soper offers a multipurpose thermal transfer ribbon with a resin-enhanced wax formulation which provides high print density and excellent edge definition for a wide variety of applications. These applications include high speed printing and label system application; shipping, carton and address labeling; small character and graphics printing with 300, 400 or 600 dpi; product ID label and tag printing; and general purpose labeling. Our anti-static formulation and back-coating prolong print-head life, and provides superior abrasion resistance compared to conventional wax products.

Wax/Resin Formula

Our midrange thermal transfer ribbon provides excellent edge definition and print quality at high dpi and print speeds, and strong abrasion resistance on paper, synthetics, and polyesters. It is developed to perform on a wide range of substrates for applications including high speed print and apply labeling systems; automated routing and material handling labeling; shipping, carton and address labeling; and all product ID label and tag printing for retail, industrial and apparel applications, including steam resistant apparel tags.

Resin Formula

Our standard resin ribbon is specifically designed for polyester and other plastic label stock. It provides extremely dense images for ultimate scan rates and excellent edge definition, abrasion resistance and solvent resistance for applications including medical and pharmaceutical labeling, chemical drum labeling, and heat shrink wrap labeling. It prints at moderate to high heat settings, and features an anti-static, heat resistant back-coating.
